Momentum Digital is back with another episode of Small Business Saturday, where we highlight a deserving company in the greater Philadelphia area. Today we sit down with Alex, the founder of PaperMill Foods and the inventor of the Spurrito!
If you’re looking for one of the most unique eats in Philadelphia, look no further than PaperMill Foods, home of the Spurrito. Our friend Alex Sherack, inventor of the Spurrito, came all the way from Sydney, Australia to bring us this half spring roll, half burrito masterpiece that is sure to make you a believer.
Alex says he got the inspiration for PaperMill from his Korean upbringing and love of Asian influences and flavors. First they take two rice papers that have been imported from Vietnam, then they load it with fresh herbs, rice noodles, and add your choice of lemon grass chicken, Korean barbecued beef, or even marinated tofu. You can top it off with some homemade peanut sauce or spice it up with some Sriracha to give that perfect balance of sweet and savory.
Watch as Alex takes us through how he builds the perfect Spurrito and explains a little bit about how he came all the way across the world, and luckily for us, landed in Philadelphia. He truly has an inspiring story, which he perfectly documents in his vlog which you can find here.
This is exactly the type of small business we are looking to highlight, a young entrepreneur that will not let any obstacles stand in his way to success! PaperMill is quickly gaining notoriety around the area, and even found a home at Roy Pitz Brewing Company on the weekends.
If you want to find out where the PaperMill Food truck will be next, visit their website at https://www.papermillfoods.com or follow them on Instagram @papermillfoods.
Until next Saturday!
