The name “The Expressive Hand” came from the studio’s original owner, who was deaf. The studio’s name has a special meaning because “The Expressive Hand” not only represented how the owner was able to communicate, but the creative aspect of what the studio offers. Marcie has been with The Expressive Hand since the beginning. About a year into the business, she had the opportunity to take over and has been running the studio ever since. The Expressive Hand has been in business for 11 successful years.

Marcie’s background is not in art – she has always been a businesswoman and entrepreneur. Marcie started out bookkeeping and running the back end of her husband’s business. She then moved onto bookkeeping for other small businesses. Marcie decided to study sign language and that is how she met The Expressive Hand’s original owner.
