Website Best Practices

Mobile-First Design

Phones and tablets are devices used to browse the web – more than desktops! Building websites with mobile functionality and responsiveness in mind is no longer optional. If your website looks bad on an iPhone, people will laugh and leave immediately. We’ll make sure your site belongs in 2017, not 1720.

On-page performance and responsiveness are very similar. Pages that take more than 2-3 seconds to load result in a spike in page abandonment. Using the latest techniques for page and image optimization, we ensure that your page is performing at a level that meets search engine and human standards.

Cross-Browser Testing

By extensively testing our websites with all of the primary internet browsers: Google Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, and Firefox, we leave no room for error, no matter who is viewing your site. Believe it or not, websites can and do look different on different browsers. Have you checked yours recently?

Hosting & Security

Sure, there are free hosting, themes and plugins that will get your website up and running. But, if you really want to stand out, you need to invest real time and money in order to look professional. We’ll make sure to set you up with a hosting provider that will meet the needs of your website and your business.

Service vs. E-Commerce

Service = WordPress

If you are building professional a professional website for your business, WordPress is by far the most comprehensive, customizable, and all-inclusive platform.

The goal of any new website is to appeal to your target audience and make sure that the user experience is phenomenal, meaning fast load times, looks great on mobile devices, easy to navigate and find information, etc. so that your visitors are more likely to come back and share with their friends and family.

When it comes to ranking your website for keywords on search engines, WordPress offers the greatest amount of diversity for both on-page search engine optimization (SEO) using Yoast SEO, and conversion tracking (Add to Cart, Click to Call, etc) through Google Tag Manager.

Since WordPress is so flexible, we can make any want or need for your specific business come to life. Whether that be shopping integrations, customer login portals, different versions of the site for desktop and mobile, and more. Where WordPress comes specifically useful is creating landing pages for Google Adwords and Facebook Advertising. We are able to optimize the page to acquire maximum conversions, whether that be phone calls, form submissions, clicks to a 3rd party site, etc.

E-Commerce = Shopify

If you are looking to build an e-commerce website, WordPress’ golden child is WooCommerce, a robust plugin with hundreds of various add-ons that allow you to create any type of shop-oriented website you want, even if you have a limited (or no) coding background. WooCommerce seamlessly integrates with all of your products, shipping, billing, checkout system, promotions and anything else you can think of.

However, where WordPress lacks in e-commerce compared to its primary competitor, Shopify, is that it does not have the the ability to quickly and easily integrate high-level marketing strategies and customer acquisition and retention tactics, such as Facebook Remarketing & Dynamic Ads, high-level Abandoned Cart softwares, Customer Loyalty Programs, Email Automation, and much more.

Shopify is constantly improving its reporting metrics which allow you to view key analytics such as Sales by Month, Traffic Sources, Top Selling Products, and a lot more that are displayed right in front of you without having to be a Google Analytics expert. Where Shopify lacks is in front-end customization. Basically what you see on any theme is what you get. You can change certain aspects like colors, fonts, and basic settings, but the layout and functionality typically must remain in tact.
